Don’t Take Your Kid to the Movies

I very rarely get out to go to the movies, but this weekend I made the time to go see the Bourne Ultimatum with my honey.

The theater was PACKED.

I was shocked at the number of people who brought little, little kids with them to the flick.

3, 4 and 5 year olds!

Including, unfortunately, the couple sitting right next to me. Ugh! I went to the movies to get a break from my kids, not to hang out with theirs.

Oh, and they also brought a big bag of chips from CVS that were all crinkly and crunchy and made lots of noise.

Now, you know - I LOve kids, but I do NOT love kids at a movie that was PG-13, but should have been R for violence, frankly.

I can’t imagine the subconscious messages the kids at the movie got about how to “be” in the world. The movie is full of fighting, killing, and backstabbing. That’s not what I want to put into my kids consciousness, that’s for sure!

Part of passing on your family wealth is instilling your values in your children. Adult movies are fine for adults who can differentiate between right and wrong, but not for little kids who are absorbing everything going on around them.

So, please, if you are reading this, don’t take your little kids to adult movies.

Hire a babysitter and if you can’t find a babysitter or don’t have the money for a sitter, wait until the movie comes out on DVD or swap with a friend.

To Your Family’s Wealth, Health and Happiness,

Alexis

PS - if you have kids and you have not yet met with us to ensure they’d be taken care of if anything happened to you, I am hosting a workshop on August 18 at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in MB at 10:00am.

And, you CAN bring your kids to our event because we provide childcare. Tell your friends and go to http://www.helpmealexis.com to register.

PPS - My new favorite hang out is Planet Earth Cafe in Hermosa Beach. Stop in there once and you won’t ever go to Starbucks again. It’s on Pier Avenue and they have organic coffee, tea and to die for red velvet cupcakes. Tell them Alexis sent you in.
