Britney Spears, Divorce and Happiness as a Moral Obligation
Have you ever been so overwhelmed, scared, sad and confused that you just wanted to pull your hair out?
Me? Yep, I have.
And, I imagine that’s what Britney Spears was feeling when she publicly shaved her head in a Los Angeles salon recently.
I can feel a deep compassion for Britney because I’ve been there, the divorce, the two kids, the uncertainty, the fear.
Luckily, I didn’t have to go through it in the public eye. Of course, I also didn’t have her millions to ease my pain.
Remember how you felt in high school when you merely THOUGHT people were talking about you?
Now imagine that intensified about 10000x when everyone in the whole world really IS talking about you AND your rebound boyfriend is spreading nasty rumors in magazines.
Shoot, I only just recently have felt comfortable enough to start talking about my own divorce and I’m NEVER afraid to talk about anything.
Typically, I don’t hold anything back.

Fun events for you, EZ Bake Oven Recall, and Lying Poll
I’ve rented out the AdventurePlex in MB on Saturday afternoon and Kid Concepts in Torrance on Tuesday evening so your kids can have food and fun while you learn about 7 steps you can take today to make sure your kids would never be taken out of your home if the unthinkable happened to you.
We only have a few tickets remaining at each location, so if you were considering attending or wanted to tell a friend, you’d better do so right away at www.MartinNeely.com or by calling 310-697-0411.
Tickets are required and there are only a few left.
The kids and I were skiing in Big Bear at the beginning of this week and we had a great time. Here are some photos of the trip (and my daredevil daughter’s post-crash bloody
face).
While you’re here, post a comment on my blog and let me know if you think it’s okay to lie about your child’s age. I’m interested to hear what you have to say.

EZ Bake Oven Recall
Attention Parents: If you are anything like me, your children got an Easy Bake Oven this Christmas. Well, Hasbro apparently got sued when a little one stuck her hand in it and got burned and now you need to call Hasbro so they can send you a piece that will prevent that from happening. You’ll then get the piece and put it on your Easy Bake Oven. What are the chances of all of that happening at my house?
Pretty much zilch. But, I’ve now been forewarned and if either Kaia or Noah stick a hand in the EZ Bake Oven, I’m not getting any sort of financial recovery.
Of course, I recommend you do call them and get yours taken care of.
I’ve repasted the whole recall notice for you here:
In a news alert, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission instructed guardians to "immediately take the recalled oven away from children under 8 years of age and contact the firm (at 1-800-601-8418) for a retrofit," adding that "young children can insert their hands into the oven ’s opening and get their hands or fingers caught, posing an entrapment and burn hazard." The recall applies only to ovens purchased since May 2006, Hasbro says.

Where Have All the Mompreneurs Gone?
I read an article today about women lawyers fleeing big firms. Obviously, that’s no news to me.
But, I have wondered where all those smart women are going.
Before I started my business I used to hang out with other moms quite a bit.
I was a La Leche League leader, a breastfeeding advocate, a Mothers & More member, and a reader of Brain, Child, the magazine for Mothers Who Think.
Then, I became an entrepreneur and other than continuing to read Brain, Child (our new baby gift for our clients is a subscription to the magazine, so look forward to it if you’re a client and preggers) I’ve lost touch with all but a few of my mommy friends.
The thing I’ve been most surprised about, as a mom in business is how hard it is to find other mompreneurs to hang out with.
My good friend and client, mortgage broker Michelle Alessi (http://www.debbieandmichelle.com), teamed up with me to try and plan some South Bay Biz-y Moms, but we really didn’t find that many mompreneurs around.
