Where Have All the Mompreneurs Gone?

I read an article today about women lawyers fleeing big firms.  Obviously, that’s no news to me.

But, I have wondered where all those smart women are going.

Before I started my business I used to hang out with other moms quite a bit.

I was a La Leche League leader, a breastfeeding advocate, a Mothers & More member, and a reader of Brain, Child, the magazine for Mothers Who Think.

Then, I became an entrepreneur and other than continuing to read Brain, Child (our new baby gift for our clients is a subscription to the magazine, so look forward to it if you’re a client and preggers) I’ve lost touch with all but a few of my mommy friends.

The thing I’ve been most surprised about, as a mom in business is how hard it is to find other mompreneurs to hang out with.

My good friend and client, mortgage broker Michelle Alessi (http://www.debbieandmichelle.com), teamed up with me to try and plan some South Bay Biz-y Moms, but we really didn’t find that many mompreneurs around.

Tonight, I was doing some research on websites to spread the word about the all new Kids Protection Plan.  www.kidsprotectionplan.com

After the pre-launch several months ago, we have made our final edits and the easiest way to protect your kids, if you can’t hire a Personal Family Lawyer, is ready.

So, we’re planning a big re-launch.

Anyway, I digress.  What I discovered is that all of the mompreneurs have NOT fallen into a big, black hole after all!  They’ve been swallowed up by the internet.

You can find some of them at www.blogher.com or just do a google search for mom blogs.

Moms, moms, and more moms.  Moms who’ve been nursing for ten years. Silicon Valley Moms.  You name it, they’re there. http://blogherads.com/blogherads-premium-parents-network

I’m going in.  I’m going to learn more about this underground network and I’ll report back.

Dedicated to Your Family’s Well-Being,

PS - I’m going green.  The Lexus 400h is being delivered to my house tomorrow!  I’ll finally have navigation and be able to stop calling friends and family for directions when I’m lost.  Getting ready to lease?  Here’s a GREAT resource for you:

www.southbankleasing.com - no one could come close to their pricing and I didn’t have to deal with the dealership and the finance manager trying to sell me a bunch of extras.

On my March Family Wealth Secrets call for Inner Circle members I’ll be interviewing Barrett Loose from South Bank Leasing about 3 things you must know before you lease to avoid getting ripped off.
